I worked at a day trading shop for 3 years 2006-2009 straight out of college. I learned that the ups and downs of the job are not right for my mental state and  Being that the stock market is only open during business hours, is it even possible for those that work for a majority of those hours to get into day trading? Great thread. I left my real estate sales job to trade full time. Still in the progress of learning a LOT and mainly trading forex (EURUSD & AUDUSD) and I average about $50-250 a day trading depending on price action, however, I do have a side hustle going during only the weekend when markets are closed

I can answer that for day trading none of that stuff matters. You trade the ticker, not the company. Most day traders have a stock scanner and they set it up to look at stocks that have "gapped" up or down 10% to 50% since the prior day's close and have lots of volume, then they trade it because it is a "stock in play."

Most day traders have a stock scanner and they set it up to look at stocks that have "gapped" up or down 10% to 50% since the prior day's close and have lots of volume, then they trade it because it is a "stock in play." Day trading can be profitable but only if you're better than the average trader and good at managing risk. It's stressful though and I wouldn't recommend it. Better imo is to trade the more longer term swings in the market which are easier to predict and don't cause as much stress.
